Building on the Museum's mission
The master plan for the National Corvette Museum's 50,000 square-foot expansion was
unveiled at the annual Membership Meeting on Labor Day Weekend 2006
(please see photos and video below). The expansion includes a library
and archives, permanent Corvette Hall of Fame, a 75-seat Corvette Café,
400-seat Conference Center that can be divided into four classrooms, an
expanded Corvette Store, additional space for the delivery cars to be
prepped, additional storage and additional space for exhibits and
displays.
The needed expansion offers the ability to create educational
exhibits and presentations, and enables the Museum to move forward
toward the realization of the vision agreed on when the Museum was
first established, enhancing the Museum as the gateway for all
resources to the Corvette community. “We have been patient with our
planning and conscientious of our financial obligations, and the timing
to begin finalizing these exciting changes to the Museum is right,”
states NCM Executive Director, Wendell Strode. “We are truly grateful
for the support we have received toward our building campaign and
expansion plans and look forward to sharing future fundraising results
and progress as it continues to develop.”
The Museum kicked off the initial building campaign to help fund the
proposed expansion at the 50th Anniversary Celebration in June of 2003.
To date, the building campaign stands at over $2.4 million in pledges
and donations. With a goal of hosting a groundbreaking Labor Day
Weekend 2007, additional contributions are crucial to determining the
amount of square footage to include in the first phase of construction.
With the addition of Frank Ragukonis as our Development Manager, we
will make fundraising for the building addition an increasing focus.”
said Strode. We encourage our members and supporters to donate online
to the Museum Building Fund and also to contact Frank at the National Corvette Museum for more information on planned giving and
estate planning. Frank can be contacted by email
